Recipe: Bánh Xèo 🔗
Ingredients 🔗
- 3 cups long grain rice
- 4 tablespoons cooking oil
- 2 shallots, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1/2 pound pork belly, diced
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 2 tablespoons fish sauce
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 2 scallions, thinly sliced (optional)
Directions 🔗
Step 1 🔗
Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add oil and shallots and cook until softened, about 3 minutes. Add garlic and cook for an additional minute.
Step 2 🔗
Add shrimp and pork belly to the skillet and cook until the pork is browned and the shrimp is cooked through, about 5 minutes. Stir in sugar, fish sauce, oyster sauce, soy sauce, and pepper. Cook for an additional 2 minutes then remove from heat.
Step 3 🔗
Place cooked rice in a large bowl or pot. Pour the shrimp mixture over the top of the rice and stir to combine. Taste to adjust seasonings if necessary then garnish with scallions (if using). Serve hot.
