Recipe: Lasagna π
Ingredients π
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
- 2 (6 ounce) cans tomato paste
- 2 (6.5 ounce) cans tomato sauce
- 2 tablespoons white sugar
- 1 Β½ teaspoons dried oregano leaves
- Β½ teaspoon dried basil leaves
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 12 lasagna noodles
- 16 ounces ricotta cheese
- 1 egg
- 1 pound mozzarella cheese, sliced

Step 1 π
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the beef, onion and garlic until the beef is no longer pink. Drain off the fat. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, tomato sauce, sugar, oregano and basil. Simmer for about 45 minutes.

In a medium bowl combine the ricotta cheese with egg and mix well. Set aside.
Step 3 π
Spread a small amount of sauce in the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish. Arrange 4 noodles over sauce. Drop half of the ricotta mixture by spoonfuls over noodles. Top with a third of mozzarella slices and a third of remaining sauce. Repeat layering twice more; ending with remaining sauce and mozzarella slices on top. Cover dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes in the preheated oven; remove foil for last 10 minutes of cooking time to brown cheese on top. Let cool 15 minutes before serving.
